Intracellular fluoride influences TASK mediated currents in human T cells.
2019
The expression of Kv1.3 and KCa channels in human T cells is essential for maintaining cell activation, proliferation and migration during an inflammatory response. Recently, an additional residual current, sensitive to anandamide and A293, compounds specifically inhibiting currents mediated by TASK channels, was observed after complete pharmacological blockade of Kv1.3 and KCa channels. This finding was not consistently observed throughout different studies and, an in-depth review of the different recording conditions used for the electrophysiological analysis of K+ currents in T cells revealed fluoride as major anionic component of the pipette intracellular solutions in the initial studie…
P-recovery in a pilot-scale struvite crystallisation reactor for source separated urine systems using seawater and magnesium chloride as magnesium so…
2019
[EN] Practical recovery of a non-renewable nutrient, such as phosphorus (P), is essential to support modern agriculture in the near future. The high P content of urine, makes it an attractive source for practicing the recovery of this crucial nutrient. This paper presents the experimental results at pilot-plant scale of struvite crystallisation from a source-separated urine stream using two different magnesium sources, namely magnesium chloride and seawater. The latter was chosen as sustainable option to perform P-recovery in coastal areas. Real seawater was used to assess in a more realistic way its efficiency to precipitate P as struvite, since its composition (with noticeable concentrati…

Keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH), II: Characteristic reassociation properties of purified KLH1 and KLH2.
1997
Subunits of the two types of keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH1 and KLH2), purified by gel filtration chromatography and preparative polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis from Immucothel, have been used for macromolecular reassociation studies. In-vitro reassociation has been achieved with a standardized system using a Tris-saline stabilizing buffer at pH 7.4 containing 100 mM calcium and magnesium chloride at 4 degrees C. The relatively slow progress of reassociation has been monitored and the varying oligomeric forms of KLH1 and KLH2 produced have been studied by transmission electron microscopy, using specimens negatively stained with 5% ammonium molybdate containing 1% trehalose. Specimens ha…
Substituted 1,4-Diaza-1,3-butadiene Monocyclopentadienyl Titanium Complexes. Crystal Structure of Ti(η5-C5Me5)(η4-iPrNCHCHNiPr)Me
2000
We report the synthesis of 1,4-diaza-1,3-butadiene (dad) complexes Ti(η5-C5R5)(η4-R‘2-dad)Cl (R = H, Me; R‘ = iPr, tBu) by reaction of Ti(η5-C5R5)Cl3 (R = H, Me) with the dilithium salts of diisopropyl- and di-tert-butyl-substituted 1,4-diaza-1,3-butadienes (Li2[R‘2-dad]). Alkylation of the pentamethylcyclopentadienyl diisopropyl and di-tert-butyl derivatives with methylmagnesium chloride and methyllithium gave complexes Ti(η5-C5Me5)(η4-iPr2-dad)Me and Ti(η5-C5Me5)(η4-tBu2-dad)Me, respectively. Addition of excess water to di-tert-butyl chloro complexes gave the oxo-bridged complexes [{Ti(η5-C5R5)(η4-tBu2-dad)}2(μ-O)] (R = H, Me). The temperature-dependent spectroscopic behavior of Ti(η5-C5H…
Switch between tyrosinase and catecholoxidase activity of scorpion hemocyanin by allosteric effectors
2008
AbstractPhenoloxidases and hemocyanins have similar type 3 copper centers although they perform different functions. Hemocyanins are oxygen carriers, while phenoloxidases (tyrosinase/catecholoxidase) catalyze the initial step in melanin synthesis. Tyrosinases catalyze two subsequent reactions, whereas catecholoxidases catalyze only the second one. Recent results indicate that hemocyanins can also function as phenoloxidases and here we show for the first time that hemocyanin can be converted to phenoloxidase. Furthermore, its substrate specificity can be switched between catecholoxidase and tyrosinase activity depending on effectors such as hydroxymethyl-aminomethan (Tris) and Mg2+-ions. Thi…
Synthesis, structural studies and reactivity of vanadium complexes with tridentate (OSO) ligand
2007
The direct reaction between [VCl(3)(thf)3] or [VO(OEt)3] and 2,2'-thiobis{4-(1,1,3,3-tetramethyl-butyl)phenol (tbopH(2)) leads to the formation of [V(2)(micro-tbop-kappa(3)O,S,O)2Cl(2)(CH(3)CN)(2)] (1).4CH(3)CN or [V(2)(micro-OEt)2(O)2(tbop-kappa(3)O,S,O)2] (2), respectively, in high yield. Compounds 1 and 2 were characterized by chemical and physical techniques including X-ray crystallography and variable temperature magnetic susceptibility studies (J = -29.1 cm(-1)) for 1. Complexes 1 and 2 were supported on MgCl2 and when activated with aluminium alkyls, were found to effectively polymerize ethene to produce polyethylene with a narrow molecular weight distribution M(w)/M(n) approximately…
Rola chlorku magnezu jako nośnika katalizatorów Zieglera-Natty
2000
Structural examination data are presented for various supports. Porosimetry (Table 2) and particle size distribution studies on MgCl 2, MgCl 2(THF) 2, Al 2O 3 as supports, carried out prior to and after ball-milling (Figs. 1, 3), suggest that MgCl 2 is beneficial as carrier because it is more liable to pretreatment (ball-milling, presence of a Lewis base) and allows its mass to be better utilized and its surface to produce catalytically active centers. Prolonged ball-milling of MgCl 2 was found to result not only in comminuted particles but also in increased specific area and larger pore volume. Studies on synthesis conditions of a vanadium precursor supported on MgCl 2(THF) 2 showed prolon…
Effects of magnesium chloride on the contractile response of uterus to several agonists in Ca-free solution
1987
Abstract The effects of MgCl2 on the oestrogen-dominated rat uterus have been examined. Tissues were preincubated in a Ca2+- and Mg2+-free medium containing 3 mM EDTA. Most experiments were subsequently performed in a similar medium containing either no EDTA or EDTA (1 mM). When MgCl2 was added cumulatively (1–32 mM) no contractile responses were obtained in Ca,Mg-free medium or in Ca,Mg-free high K+ solution. When 2 mM CaCl2 as added, a sustained contraction was obtained. Subsequent addition of cumulative concentrations of MgCl2 caused concentration-dependent relaxation. Oxytocin, 2 μM, produced a small and sustained contraction in a Ca,Mg-free medium. Addition of MgCl2, 2 mM, increased th…
Haliotis tuberculata hemocyanin (HtH): analysis of oligomeric stability of HtH1 and HtH2, and comparison with keyhole limpet hemocyanin KLH1 and KLH2
2000
The multimeric/higher oligomeric states of the two isoforms of Haliotis tuberculata hemocyanin (HtH1 and HtH2) have been assessed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) of negatively stained specimens, for comparison with previously published structural data from keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH1 and KLH2) [see Harris, J.R., Gebauer, W., Guderian, F.U., Markl, J., 1997a. Keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH), I: Reassociation from Immucothel followed by separation of KLH1 and KLH2. Micron, 28, 31-41; Harris, J.R., Gebauer, W., Söhngen, S.M., Nermut, M.V., Markl, J., 1997b.
